    SOMALILAND

     

    Somaliland has a 740 kilometres (460 mi) coastline with the majority lying along the Gulf of Aden. The region is slightly larger than England, with an area of 137,600 km2 (53,100 sq mi). ... The Awdal region is also known for its offshore islands, coral reefs and mangroves.

    Somaliland is an unrecognised self-declared de facto sovereign state that is internationally recognised as an autonomous region of Somalia.

    Somaliland is bordered by Ethiopia in the south and west, Djibouti in the northwest, the Gulf of Aden in the north, and the autonomous Puntland region of Somalia to the east.

    SOMALILAND - BERBERA

    Berbera was part of a chain of trading ports along the Somali seaboard. It later served as the capital of the British Somaliland protectorate from 1870 to 1941. Located strategically on the oil route, the city has a deep seaport that was completed in 1962, which serves as the region’s main commercial harbour. Berbera Port is on the northern coast of Somalia and is located on the Gulf of Aden. The port is owned and operated by the Somaliland Authorities. In addition to an Oil Terminal the facilities can accommodate containers, general cargo and bulk cargo.
